Overview:

Abstract: The thesis introduces a mediaeval sacristy-cabinet from the town Brandenburg. Dated around 1456, the cabinet is part of the antiquities inventory of the Katharinenkirche. The stenciled cabinet has been analyzed to determine the technique and the materials used in its construction. According to the results, the late gothic piece had been refurbished in the early 19th century. Close proximity to the church wall and constant contact with water and salt has had an adverse effect on the object. After comprehensive documentation of its condition, it was recommended that restorative measures be taken. Work will begin on the front half to be used as an example.
