Anne Denk: Ansbach or Bayreuth? Investigation of a wand panel and three consols Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: In the Ansbach´s residence there exist supporting documents from 1775 that verify the use of wall panels made in Bayreuth for re-equipping the Ansbach´s audience room for guests. Later on, two consols were added, but a third one is not mentioned in the room´s inventories. So the question is whether all three tables came with the wall panels from Bayreuth or whether they came from another manufacture nearby. In order to find an answer to this question the provenance and the original context of the furniture need to be determined. The goal is to reinstall the furniture in their original location. Therefore, historical papers were studied. Additionally, the object´s construction as well as its stylistic characteristics and paint layers were examined and documented.
