Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The collection of historical firearms of the Historical Museum of Uruguay is menaced by losing the corresponding documentation and by processes of disintegration. Creating a register including a complete, digital inventory with catalogue of photographs and background information, the museum regains the possibility to exhibit the collection again. An urgency list describes the state of conservation and the cultural value of each object. Measures to improve the conditions of surroundings -in the depot and the exhibition -and a concept of storage -both based on concepts of the Preventive Conservation -should secure the material existence of the firearms. In the scope of this bachelor thesis simple measures of precleaning and maintenance are described and executed in order to avoid further damages until it is possible to carry out careful conservation activities.
