Margherita Minuzzi: The conservation and restoration of a moulage made of celluloid (cellulose nitrate) of the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden produced moulages, i.e. wax-mouldings of the deseased human body, for medical education. In the 1920s and 1930s those moulages were also mass-produced of „Cellon“ (cellulose acetate). One of the few pieces of this experiment, a moulage made of celluloid (cellulose nitrate), a material related to „Cellon“, was studied and restored. The studies of this object did also reveal the most likely production technique.
