Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This Thesis is about the Transylvanian carver Sigismund Möß and his wooden artwork. The altar from Gusterita (German: Hammersdorf, Romania), carved by Sigismund Möß, is compared with the altar from Gârbova (German: Urwegen, Romania).
By analysing the technology of their construction and painting the question shall be answered, whether the altar from Gârbova is also carved by Sigimund Möß.
This text contains the iconography of the two objects, the analyses of their environment and the construction and painting technique.
As Sigismund Möß’ signature could be found on the altar from Gârbova, it is proved that it is also an object from this carver.
The results of this Thesis can be regarded as a first access to this baroque artist’s work as well as a basis for further researches on his field of activity.
