Anke Hirsch: Reconstruction of specially treated finishing plaster Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: By the end of the 19th century, when specially treated finishing plasters were developed, they became an innovation compared to the traditional making of plasters right at the construction site. They came as colored, dry, ready-to-use mortar and were delivered as bagged goods. Not only was the production of these new specially treated finishing plaster extraordinary, but also the processing technology, as well as their appearance. As innovation in technology, production- and design techniques, these new plasters wrote architectural history and influenced urban development. For this diploma thesis an extended research on the history and the composition of colored mortars was carried out. Various specially treated finishing plasters were reconstructed and recipes for repair mortars were developed.
