Overview:

Abstract: The study is about four sculptures from the evangelists, former part of the baroque altar from 1690 in the church of St. Peter in Bremen. On the base of examinations of the material technology, analysis and documentation of the condition, a concept for the consevation is created. Because of longterm deposition in enviroments with unsuitable climate conditions, the sculptures are in a bad conservation status. Aditionally the study complements analysis of the context of history of arts and the enviroment. The tests result in a demonstration of the measures on an example area on one of the sculptures, on the base of an calculation of time and costs, so the community can decide about the realisation of the project.
