The in fragments/fragmentarily preserved wall-painting showing Scenes of the Childhood of Christ in St. Bartholomäus in Frankfurt is situated on the eastern wall in the southern side aisle. It is painted in tempera technique and dated from the early 15th century, suggesting a close affinity to contemporary panel painting. The objectives were to investigate the fragmentarily status and the deteriorations. To get further information about the technological stratigraphy, the wall painting is compared to other wall paintings and to panel paintings situated on the Middle Rhine.
