Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The purpose of this document is to provide a strategy for conservation and facilitation of simple use of a small gauge film collection with separate magnetic sound tape. The film collection consists of the lifework of the film amateur Günter Dubiel, his cinematic bequest was stored by the Deutsche Kinemathek Berlin after his death.

Apart from preservation of the separate media for picture and sound it is necessary to synchronize both media in order to create adequate reference and access copies for screening. The materials, technical apparatus and methods used by Dubiel to achieve synchronization are described in detail.

The process of prepairing selectes films is documented and forms the base for a proposal to handle the whole collection.
