Overview:

Abstract: This thesis is about the model of a boat from the region of the Huonpeninsula in the former Kaiser Wilhelms-Land, part of todays Papua New Guinea in Melanesia.
The model is part of the ethnological collection belonging to the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum in Hildesheim.
The work deals with the securing of results which is the base of the development of a treatment concept.
The concept is consisting of a cleaning concept to remove all the possibly harmful soilings, and a concept for the stabilization of the substance.
Since the origin of the object is a cultural region that is unknown for most of the spectators, the thesis begins with a detailed description of the cultural background of the model.
