Overview:

Abstract: These Bachelor thesis deals with the baroque pulpit crown in the Neustädter
Hof- und Stadtkirche St. Johannis, Hanover. The text discusses the question whether it
is possible to rebuild the crown with the sole use of original elements. The thesis is
based on status reports concerning the elements of the pulpit crown, written by
students of the HAWK Hildesheim. It was noticed that the fragments of the crown are
almost entirely preserved, however they are in a very damaged condition. A reuse of
the original parts is therefore only possible after extensive conservational measures.
The thesis summarises possibilities for a rebuild, also mentioning restoring and
reconstructive measures. The conclusion is, that it is in fact possible, to rebuild the
object sole with original elements, however it is unlikely, since some pieces are missing
and some others are rather difficult to identify.
