Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with two 19th century presentation boards with relief and mosaic
tiles by the artist Manuel de Soto y Tello from Seville, Spain. The art-historical part of the
work covers the development history of ceramic tiles and their production techniques. The
composition of the used ceramics and glazes are clarified by detailed scientific analyses. The
practical focus lies on the dismantling, cleaning and re-fastening of the original tiles as well
as the reconstruction of no longer preserved parts. These are reconstructed based on the
results of the analyses according to the original production process in glazed ceramics.
