Maria Grünbaum: The wall and vault paintings in room 1-1 in the Torre Guevara. Object investigation and development of a conservation and restoration concept Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The Torre Guevara is an old defence tower on the coast of the island Ischia in the bay of Naples. It shows an extensive inventory of grotesque wall and vault paintings of the second half of the 16th century. They are made in secco technique and realise etching models of Vredeman de Vries
Within the context of this diploma thesis an investigation of the object and its condition with regard to the painting technique and potential causes of detoriation have been carried out. The intention was to develop a concept of conservation measures based on the predefined need to intervention for the building and the wall paintings. A special focus was given to the surface cleaning.
