Abstract: The baroque chamber of the Stollberg Castle (Harz) compels by its intricate decorative moulding and detailed neorenaissant mural. In the second half of the twentieth century, the castle was left to decay. Water damages and durable subjection to damp affected the baroque chamber. A first examination of the state of the chamber took place in the context of the diploma thesis, leading to the formulation of objectives and needs for treatment. This resulted in the elaboration of a [concept, programme] of preservation and restauration together with proposals for the future presentation of the chamber. The diploma thesis consists of a part in writing, photographic documentation as well as of cartography.
