Overview:

Abstract: Abstract
Subject matter of the bachelor’s thesis in hand is the presentation and mediation of fragmented carved sculptures in an ecclesiastical and museum context. At first, the evolution of the fragment in philosophy, art history and conservation history is presented to subsequently exemplify the presentation of fragmented carved sculptures. Thereupon, three exemplary formerly fragmented objects, from Catholic, Protestant and museum context respectively are introduced. This is followed by a concept for the presentation of a fragmented angel’s sculpture in a museum context, in which the acquired knowledge on variations of presentation will find application.
