Overview:

Abstract: Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is one of the preventative conservation measures. It serves to prevent a pest infestation of cultural property. For this purpose, among other things, knowledge about site-specific conditions, ecological relationships and the way of life of pests are used to eliminate possible causes of pest infestation and thus prevent the same.
First, there is a general overview of Integrated Pest Management and its actions. Subsequently, various institutions are compared with regard to the measures implemented there. With the help of the knowledge gained in this way and taking into account applicable DIN standards and recommendations, an IPM process is being developed using the example of the Niedersächsisches Landesarchiv (NLA). It emphasizes the importance of Integrated Pest Management as a permanent task of conservation management.
