The thesis deals with the possibility to digitally reconstruct typographical content from incomplete films of the silent era. Starting point for this undertaking is examining the development of the use of typography and its production methods in film history before the establishment of sound in film. The practical example for the digital reconstruction of film titles including the approaches of restoring moving images and a suggestion for a documentation, is based on the film restoration of "Moral". "Moral" is a film which was produced 1927 in Germany.
