Thilo Bürgel: Aircraft coatings from 1945 until today- exemplary restoration and conservation on a light strike fighter Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Object to the restauration was an aircraft type Fiat G.91 T.3, serial number 91-2-0015, a light strike fighter in a two-seat version. Delivered to the German airforce in the early nineteensixties for service at the fighter bomber squadron 41 at Husum. Optical modifications, partially on the ground of the technical development during duty, were made. Discharged from service in 1982, only the airplane´s bow was preserved. The traces of usage on the coating and the condition of the bow itself are described in detail and analysed by scientific examinations. Methods for the coatings preservation are worked out and exemplarily implemented on grounds of conservation concepts, e.g. by test series for consolidation of coatings.
