Ingrid Kohl: Drying of water-damaged objects in the collection of libraries and archives by warm air. An alternative to dry freezing? Zurück
Sprache: Original   -   Übersetzung
Zusammenfassung: One of the most serious matters in the field of conservation is the impact of water or humidity on objects in the collection of libraries and archives. This project will therefore focus on possible ways of warm air drying. Investigations could be realised with the help of technical facilities that are used for pest management treatments. The use of dry freezin will be put into comparison. Different aspects of all investigations will demonstrate the process of drying and its resulting success, changes in visual appearance, microbiological testing and effects on strength properties of the materials in question. One of the techniques tested will be carried out as an exemplary treatment on several documents taken from the collection of the Historical Archive from the School of Applied Science in Cologne, Germany.
