Zusammenfassung: A technological examination of the sculpture as weIl as an explanation of the courses of damage form the basis for the planning of conservating measures. Since the sculpture has been placed in the St. Anne's Chapel in the seventies of the 20th century it has been exposed to an outdoor climate. Therefore it shows damage resulting from climatic variations. Especially the painting materials in connection with the wooden corpus have sufferded a loss of durability. This also concerns the extensive fillings and retouches, which go back to former measures of restoration. On the basis of corresponding records the traces of two former treatments could be assigned to a certain workshop and restorer. The research in this matter does not allow a reconstruction of the object's history previous to the 20th century but a review of the literature may be used as a starting point for the future examination of its origin.
