Zusammenfassung: In the media, 3D printing is described as a new and multi-purpose manufacturing process. Since 1986, the printing machines were used primarily for the production of prototypes in the aerospace and automotive industry. In many fields 3D printing became indispensable. The research for new methods and usable materials is a never ending process. So 3D printers are no longer manufactured only for special industrial applications, it get cheaper for private applications.

This bachelor thesis should answer the question, what methods of the 3D printing are applied in the restoration and preservation and in which fields the application possibilities exist or could exist.

With the help of literature review and the visit of the Erfurt exhibition "FabCon 3.D" (a trade fair for 3D print), the various methods of additive 3D printing and the using of different materials is rated. In addition, applications of the preservation and restoration are listed. In consideration of the result, ecological aspects are considered.
