Zusammenfassung: The diploma thesis is concerned with the ornamental mural painting of apse in the late-Romanic stone church of Warchau close to Wusterwitz in the federal state of Brandenburg. The neo-Romanic painting performed in 1908 is an example of Middle Ages reception in Germany, which was popular in the 19th and early 20th century. In the first part of the thesis the painting is classified in art-historical context by comparison with selected examples of neo-medieval church paintings in the Brandenburg area. In the second part inventory and condition of paint, whitewash and plaster is investigated and illustrated by photo-documentation and mapping. Scientific analyses complete restoration investigations. Based on these results proposals for suitable conservation measures been developed and adjusted on location. Particular measures for minimization of proceeding damage mechanisms regarding the building have been suggested.
