Zusammenfassung: This study is about inlay metal work on splendor weapons. The concept of inlayed work is defined, different kinds of implementation are presented and put into an art-historical perspective. Within a defined thematic and time frame the various kinds of inlay work of the collection of the Armory Dresden are documented and their implementation is reconstructed.

The assessment of the conditions of the inlay work revealed, that silver sulfide is the most common damage symptom. The most serious damage however turned out to be corrosion under the inlay work which results in defects. This study provides approaches for restoration and conversation for inlay-metal work of decorative art object.
