Zusammenfassung: The african harp KSM 1986/593 from the musical instruments collection of the Cologne City Museum represents an important cultural document of the african-european colonial relationship. Upon examination of the harp an chosen objects of comparison, special emphasis is placed on materials and construction. The two materials snake skin and ivory, their histological and morphological properties as well as the resulting characteristics are described thoroughly. On this basis, the damages and their causes are being discussed in the following and a concept for treatment is established. The tears in the snake skin represent the main damage-phenomena and constitute the major focus of the diploma-thesis. After the discussion about methods and ways of repairing this tears with difficult access to the back the tested adhesives and backing materials are being examined for their application in practical experiments. Finally a chapter is dedicated to an object-adapted packaging for the harps combined materials.

La harpe africaine KSM 1986/593 dans la collection d’instruments de musique du Kölnisches Stadtmuseum (Musée de la ville de Cologne) représente un documet culturel important des relations coloniales afro-européennes. Lors de l’examination de la harpe et des objets de comparaison choisis, le regard est porté praticulièrement sur les materiaux et et la construction. Les deux materiaux, peau de serpent et ivoire, leurs marques histologiques et morphologiques distinctives ainsique les caractères qui en résult, sont décrites en détail. A partir de ce fond les dommages et leurs causes sont examinés et un concept de traitement est élaboré. Les déchirures dans la peau de serpent représentent le phénomène de dommage principal et sont la priorité du travail. Après la discussion des méthodes et des manières pour fermer les déchirures aux endroits qui sont plus difficilement accessibles, les colles testées et les materiaux de support sont examinée quant à leur applicabilité dans des expériments pratiques. Finalement, un chapitre est consacré à un emballage adapté à la harpe faite de materiaux combinés.
