Zusammenfassung: | In the ancient aristocratic estate of family Brömser in Rüdesheim am Rhein, there is a large amount of ornamen-tal and figurative vault and wall paintings in the so-called private chapel and the ancestor hall in secco technique preserved. The subtly detailed pictures dated to the year 1559 by signatures. The objective of this thesis is the disclosure of technological specialties of individual selected areas and the reconstructive working process. The applied painting techniques of the walls and the vault area in the chapel are set in contrast to the ones of the vault in the ancestor hall. Characteristic properties like toolmarks, rendering limits, support of construction and transfer, punched holes as fixing points of stencil for the picture composition as well as for the colour application, background paintings and the varying and multilayer colour application were collected in detail. Complementary scientific examinations clarify the question for the original palette of pigments, the applied binder and they also show possible causes of existing pigment alteration. |
