Zusammenfassung: | This thesis raises with scientific methods the topic of joining broken gut strings, an often ill-judged subject in the field of instrument preservation. Adhesive treatment tests are performed with previously cut, new gut strings in two joining methods: at first a clean shock on shock-gluing and secondly a shock on shock-gluing with supplementary protective tube. Through comprehensive and critical research the following adhesives and protective tube materials have been chosen: Mowilith LD167 (PVAC), Plextol D540 (acrylic dispersion), Paraloid B-72 (acrylate) in p-Xylene, sturgeon glue and HXTAL NYL-1 (epoxy resin). The protective tube materials in question are: pig intestine (Submucosa), Japanese paper (Gampi) and bacterial cellulose. In total 13 sets with each 10 test specimen are prepared to determine the tensile strength of material and adhesive combinations. Concluding with a critical discussion test results and experience gained from practical adhesive tests are analysed. |
