| Zusammenfassung: | The setting of the so‐ called “Herderzimmer” in the city castle of Weimar is characterized by extensive areas of stucco marble and mounted areas of plaster with ornaments of stucco. The room, which was finished around 1847, belongs to an ensemble of similar representative rooms dedicated to other poets, which are presented in a museum. During the diploma thesis a concept of measures to preserve and restore the damaged room setting was developed. The concept is based on the analysis of the conditions of the room. Next to the structural damages the inadequate heating within the museum and the inconsequent microclimate of the rooms as the cause of the damages could identified. There was also an extensive research of the stucco marble technology, typical phenomena of damages and the restoration of stucco marble. Therefore different analyses of stucco marble and experiments with replicas were carried out. The emphasis of the concept was the conservation so that all measures of restoration had the goal to respect the original work and to keep its authenticity. So a manual revision of the stucco marble and additions in the same material were left out. Among other things acrylic‐bound mortars and thrifty perceptible retouching were used. Recommendations to improve the microclimate of the rooms were offered. |
