Zusammenfassung: The problem of chlorid in soil and archaeological iron is well known both in marine and terrestial sites. Preserving masses of objects is thereby a huge defiance, hence the optimizing of treatments stand in focus of the past. But the success of a desalination does not depends only on its practical implementation, but also on methods to verify such. Beside others, the corrosion potential measurement stands in the focus of the discussion for the practical conservation. Experiments on archaeological iron from different sites were carried out and investigated the method. The results show, that the corrosion potential is an indicative factor to varify desalination processes. Due to its user friendly application, low costs and location independence it seems quiete interesting for the practical conservation. This Thesis provides a good basis for further research, to establish the corrosion potential measurement as an analyse tool for conservators in the future.
