Zusammenfassung: The small tea table with rococo style features and valuable dutch fayence tiles, originates verifiably from the estate of the family of the german poet Gottfried August Bürger. It dates back to the second half of the 18th century and was stored at Burg- und Schlossmuseum Allstedt (Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany) due to its fragile condition. After the restoration the table will be exhibited there as a part and center of a new exhibition subject. This Paper was intended to create a solid basis for the upcoming restoration. The documentation and analysis of the object and its condition was necessary to draft a concrete restoration goal. The gathered informations about the history and the reworkings were the base to create a concept, which makes it possible to per-ceive the esthetic and historic value of the object again. Therefore the investigation and evaluation of the coatings was necessary. The treatments needed for consolidation of destabilised woodstructure due to an old woodworm pest or reworkings of lost sections, need to fulfill special requirements. Based on well-founded research and samples, materials and methods have been tested for their suitability.
