Zusammenfassung: | The present work concerns an Armillary sphere from the Museum Bückeburg. The object, having been kept in storage for a long period of time, is to be displayed in the museum´s new permanent exhibition as part of a set with an Earth globe and a Celestial globe. There is no documentation or information on this object regarding previous examinations or conservation/restoration measures of which it has been the subject. Constructed from a combination of wood, metal and paper, the Armillary sphere shows various types of damage and soiling. In combination with the historical techniques that were used in the construction of the Armillary sphere, the object merits closer examination. The aim of this work is to examine the historical techniques used, the materials in construction and the current condition of the object, and to then develop a conservation concept with a focus on consolidation and cleaning. |
