Zusammenfassung: | The first painting under discussion showed two canvas tears. They were mended thread by thread. The paint losses were filled and retouched. The second painting was damaged by packing materials such as foam and paper that were stuck to the not fully dried paint layer. These extrinsic materials could be removed or reduced. About two thirds of the third painting were covered in soot and fire blisters of partly considerable size (up to 25cm sq). The blisters were levelled and the soot layer was thinned. The theoretical part of the diploma presents the optical investigation of eight further paintings. During a 140 minute long interview the artist was questioned in regard to his painting materials and methods as well as his attitude towards the conservation and restoration of his work. The theoretical part of the diploma including the transscribed artist’s interview will be made available to the “Art Archive” of the INCCA. |
