Zusammenfassung: | This study dealt with mural paintings from the late gothic era in St. Petri church at obhausen, Anhalt-Saxony, Germany. The mural paintings are situatet in the former choir , wich in no longer in the religious use due to changes that had been made during the 18th century. During these changes, the wall paintings where in part destroyed or covered with blaster. After that the painting fell into oblivion and remained and unaltered ever since. Much in painting are in a very pure condition. Demage pertains to the paintlayer and the painting is now partly in patches, other parts remain as the discolored paintlayer with reduced binder. The leading cause of the damage is gypsumkristallisation due to accumulation or infiltration of water caused by the damaged ruof of the building. Parts of the building, such as gypsum-countaining cementsplices or shell limestone of the façade, would be further sources of sulphate. A concept for further action was deviced on the bases of conservational findings and the paintings were in parts secured on a emergency bases. Further steps of conservations are discussed. The concept for conservation includes recommendations regarding the façade, because changes in this regard on necessary to conserv the paintings. Finally, further directions for conservation are provided. |
