Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The Opernbrunnen was designed by the Cologne artist Jürgen Hans Grümmer in the 1960s and is located at the „Offenbachplatz“ in front of the Cologne Opera. The fountain consists of a concrete base with a colorful glass mosaic and impresses with soaring jets of water. The furniture and brick flooring of the square was also designed by Grümmer. The following paper presents the history of the object from the first draft to the present state, followed by an inventory and an assessment of the current structural condition. The results of these investigations create the foundation for the concept of preservation and for the recommended measures of maintenance for the Opernbrunnen.
