Overview:

Abstract: This bachelor´s thesis develops a conservation concept for the painting "Erntebild" by the artist Eberling from 1938. The painting is an oil painting on a cardboard carrier, which is doubled on the back of a chipboard. The object data are presented with the aid of solubility tests, spotting tests and a pH measurement. Furthermore, the restoration and object history as well as the art historical context are described. Condition photography and mapping are used to describe and evaluate various damages. Essentially, there is a detachment of the painting layer and degradation of the cardboard. For this, a method for surface cleaning and solidifying agentis determined in the conservation concept. For this purpose, a comparison of variants and various tests are carried out to determine the strengthening agent.
