Overview:

Abstract: Subject of this bachelor thesis is the Berlin-Bohnsdorf post mill, which was relocated to the open-air area of the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin in 1984. Today several parts of the object are affected by ageing and degradation of the wooden material. The purpose of this paper is to provide a theoretical basis for planning and realisation of appropriate restorative measures. The object is described in its historical and functional context as well as its current condition. Selected examination methods were applied to substantiate the results. Finally several utilization concepts are developed and discussed with critical regard to a complete restoration. A catalogue of measures is proposed for the favoured concept.
