In particular cable insulating material basing on vulcanized rubber, which was very common in the first half of the twentieth century, will be examined with regard to ist composition an state of conservation. Compound techniques as well as supplementary material basing on caoutchouc/rubber solutions, wax (compounds) and paper bindings which are used to stabilize damaged cable insulations will be presented. Moreover, performance checks will be carried out, and possibilities of reoperation of aged electrical aggregates and feeders will be evaluated.
