Abstract: | The topic of this paper is the restoration of the wooden cover of an 18th century bible, called “Kurfürstenbibel”. The strongest damages are the lost parts of the wooden boards. As method for the reconstruction of wooden book covers the addition of tiny wooden bars of different sizes and shapes is discussed in this assignment. Further on the suitability of this presented method is analyzed on dummies in the area of the corners and where the cords are connected to the board. A cut in two cover board will be completed through the same method and examined. The missing parts of the bible´s wooden boards will be repaired following the results of the research. |
