Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This diploma thesis is about the backdrop „Rittersaal/ Bauernstube“ [engl. „knight’s hall/ farmhouse room“] of a puppet theatre from 1909 as well as about a corresponding stock of material for theatre decoration purposes. Painted by the puppeteer Jacob Heidinger, the stock is now in posession of the Puppentheatersammlung Dresden [engl. Museum of Saxon Folk Art and Puppet Theatre Collection]. At the beginning, half of the backdrop was coiled up and could not be unrolled due to severe stiffness of the paintlayers.
Referring to this, the focus of the diploma thesis lies on the realisation to re-coil the backdrop in order to make its depiction visible again as well as to provide the possibility to experience the object as a part of a puppet theatre.
