Abstract: This bachelor thesis focuses on the conservation treatment of a Bronze Age composite object from the Tollense Valley. The object is a knife consisting of the materials bronze, antler and birch pitch. The conservation includes the object’s drying, a conservation concept as well as its carrying out. Materials for adhering birch pitch and methods for excavating the bronze surface are obtained by testing series. Based on all information the manufacturing techniques as well as a possible secondary use will be considered.
