Nina Dautovic: Ash as historical detergent back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The title of this work is „Ash as historical detergent”. On this subject there was an extensive source- and literature research. This work also includes more historical recipes for the manufacture of detergents with ash. In addition to the research a practical set of experiments was carried out, which was documented photographically and in writing. In this series of experiments, not the effectiveness of the detergent was at the centre, but the question of what happens to the paint layer, when it is treated with ash. For this purpose, five historic recipes have been reconstructed and tested on three different, painted, wooden sample plates.
