Abstract: The bachelor thesis deals with the inventory of the collection of japanese masks in the Roemer- and Pelizaeus-Museum in Hildesheim. The main purpose of this work is to be found in a detailed description of the seventeen objects, furthermore in the exploration of the technological structure of the used materials based on a literature research. A detailed description of the condition of the objects is intended to be the basis for the clarification of the cause of damage. A concept for appropriate storage and presentation provides advice for a suitable safekeeping of the objects in the future. In terms of cultural context, this work is also going to approach the No-theatre.
