Overview:

Abstract: The following master thesis is about the unilaterally wider door leaf, that belongs to the cover of a niche door in the church of St. Martin in Flintsbach. Matthias Perthaler made it in 1736 and it was reconstructed in 1780 as a back wall behind a confessional. In the middle of the 20th century, the door leaf disappeared completely in that church interior. The high-executed rococo version of cask painter Franz Zellner was changed twice with paintings on wood. In that time the state of that wooden object shows a lot of damage because of clammines in that long time of storage. Served as the basis of this work was the previous partial intervention on that visible painting cover. This thesis deals in addition to the technological inspection with a detailed description and interpretation of potential reasons of damage. The intention is to develop an object-specific conservation and restoration concept for exposing the first version.
