Overview:

Abstract: This paper deals with preservation requirements which apply for the permanent storage of approximately 6800 individual graphical works from the collection Albrecht Haupt of the TIB/UB Hannover. The current storage situation will be described and the condition of the collection is examined. In addition to the relevant DIN standards, two different graphical collections are used as a reference.
Based on the individual requirements of the collection recommendations regarding the level, the selection of size and interlayers are made. On this basis, pros and cons of three different options of storage systems are elucidated and assessed.
The rehousing of the collection is a central component of the preservation concept, therefore aspects of usability and workflow are considered as well.
