Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The subject of this thesis is a 745 m long arched bridge consisting of stone- and brickwork, which carries the aqueduct of the “I. Wiener Hochquellwasserleitung” over the valley of the Liesingriver. Because of its significance in the urban development of Vienna and the functional context it represents an important industrial monument of the 19th century in Austria. The building material of the bridge is exposed to high stress as a result of the position and usage. The damages arising from the exposure concern the whole building structure. A concept for a treatment was developed, based on the physical and condition survey. The key aspects include an adequate recipe for the joint mortar as well as a treatment of the damages on the stone surfaces.
