Annabelle Philine Pape: Plucked and not punched! An object documentation of the harpsichord by Pascal Taskin, 1787, Paris, exhibited in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Only few harpsichords exist worldwide because many of them were burned during the French Revolution (1789-1799). So the harpsichord of Pascal Taskin is a rarity. It has an extensive sound and it is also an amazingly painted, wooden object.
This bachelor thesis is about the inventory and the condition of this musical instrument. It also deals with its art aspects and object history. In addition the Collection of Beurmann is mentioned because this harpsichord belongs to it.
The instrument of Taskin is played regularly during guided tours, concerts and seminars for students. At the end of this text there is an argumentation about the playing of historical instruments.
