Overview:

Abstract: The staircase of the Asamhaus in Munich was rearranged according to ideas of Egid Quirin Asam. Its partially uncovered wall paintings, stucco reliefs, stucco capitals and scagliola elements are well preserved and during this diploma thesis examined and described. The artistic techniques are spotlighted in the theoretical part. The whole decoration as well as the present damages are documented and evaluated to determine the need for action. The following discussion about the objective leads to the treatment proposal. Finally suggestions are given in an integrated concept that addresses the future use of the staircase.
