Overview:

Abstract: The medieval picture carved on plaster from the cloister Zelle in Aue was studied in this diploma thesis. The theoretical part looks comprehensively into the history of the mural and its restoration, and helps understand its detachment around 1930. The results of the analyses on the condition and status, on which the conservation-restoration concept is based, are presented in the scientific-practical part. The study specifies prerequisites for the safekeeping of the artwork, including inspecting the on-site conditions, to allow exhibiting in the cloister.
