Abstract: | The author begins by categorising the types of damage and the condition of a paintings collection. This introduction is followed by a discussion of a treatment procedures catalogue which had to be developed for the temporary stabilisation of a collection. The treatments discussed in the catalogue would contribute to the long term preventive conservation of a paintings collection during a major move. The purpose of the creation of a treatment catalogue was to guarantee efficiency in the care of these objects by developing standard treatment protocols. Practical examples are used from the treatment of three paintings as they were removed from their permanent storage area at the Herzog Anton Ulrich‐Museum. Their treatments followed conservation protocols as outlined in the conservation procedures catalogue. |
