Overview:

Abstract: This diploma thesis shows the development of the harp over the years. Special attention is drawn
to the group of arpanetta. Their history of origin, their instrumental characteristics and their use
are closely considered. By comparing different instruments, the origin of the harp being restored
is narrowed down and the builder is identified. The development of a preservation concept is
based on the current state of the object. The difficulty of developing a restoration concept and
the subsequent realisation of the concept shall be developed using different points of discussion
and test runs. The discussion focuses on the possible replacement of the range and the missing
rose as well as the removal of an extensive paint over. It is the aim of the work to give the
instrument some of its original splendour back and to make it ready for exposition.
