| Abstract: | The current thesis deals with a special technique within the context of wax moulding. The object called "Haus Nazareth" made by N.E. Cetto in the early 18th century is a fascinating waxrelief‐miniature of the Bamberger Museen. It is one of circa 150 objects of the same style existing in German speaking countries. Technological aspects, which have been found out by examining the object, are presented in the first part of the work. For details a comparison with historical written sources was made. Based on this it was tried to reproduce the special wax moulding technique that is very different of the technique used by other bossieres. In this way the specific technology could be pointed out. The second part describes the conservation and restoration of the endangered object "Haus Nazareth". The main problem was the consolidation of cracks and brittle areas as well as the re‐fixing of fragments on the miniature. For conservation purposes the reversible polyethylenglycol was chosen. Thermal procedures and the use of wax‐pastes could be avoided. |
